Kevin Foster is a son of a World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy.  His father, who grew up in La Porte City, Iowa, served on the battleship USS New Mexico, BB40.  His father was a Fire Controllman 2nd Class.  Kevin's mother grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Born in Kansas City, Ka., Kevin moved around a bit as a lad, with stops in Tampa Bay, Fl., Shawnee, Ka., and Los Angeles, Ca.  He returned to the Cedar Falls / Waterloo metropolitan area in 1985. Kevin has very strong loyalties to the Kansas City Chiefs and most sports teams located in Kansas City.

Kevin describes himself as a "sports nut", with his strongest interest in professional football and golf.  Kevin sports a 7 handicap in golf and since cataract surgery in 2007, can watch his Tee and fairway shots, on and off the fairways, with clarity.  Kevin is one of several members of Post 49 who are called upon to assist in the planning of Post Tournaments.

Kevin has been a Sons member since 1987, and became a Life Member in 2003.  This is the 4th time Kevin has been called upon to lead Sons of AMVETS Squadron 49.
